Personal training terms.
How sessions, payments and cancellations work, in plain English. About a two-minute read.
Move For Life is run by Claudio Miguel Rocha, a self-employed personal trainer trading as Move For Life, Flat 192, Norbiton Hall, Kingston upon Thames, KT2 6RU, moveforlifemiguel@gmail.com. These terms cover 1:1 and small-group PT, at-home sessions, boxing, Muay Thai, self-defence and online coaching. You accept them by ticking "I agree" and typing your name on the sign-up form.
1. Before we start
- Fill in the sign-up form, including the health questions, before your first session. I'll ask you to update it once a year, and you agree to tell me straight away if your health changes.
- If you answer yes to a health question, we'll talk it through before you train, and I may suggest you check with your GP. If you choose to train without medical advice, you accept the risk of doing so.
- Exercise carries some risk of injury. I'll coach you at your pace, but tell me straight away if anything hurts or feels wrong, and stop.
- 16 and 17 year olds can train once a parent or guardian has filled in the form and agreed to these terms.
2. Where we train
- Gym sessions run at Lifestyle Fitness Kingston. You need your own membership there and must follow the gym's rules. Paid classes I run at Lifestyle Fitness are the exception, and details come with the booking.
- At-home sessions add a £10 travel fee per session, and the area is agreed before your first session. I bring the kit unless you have your own. You need a clear, safe space with pets out of the way, and an adult at home if you're under 18. I can stop a session if the space isn't safe.
3. Paying
- Pay-as-you-go sessions are paid in advance by the payment link I send, by the day before at the latest.
- Sessions are 50 or 30 minutes, as agreed when you sign up. Monthly plans give you 4, 8 or 12 sessions per calendar month and are paid in advance each month, by standing order or bank transfer to my Monzo business account. Sessions not used within the month are lost: they don't roll over and aren't refunded. To end a monthly plan, give 1 month's notice.
- In small groups, each person pays for their own place.
- Your price is confirmed in writing before you start. Prices can change with 30 days' notice. Founding online rates stay locked for as long as you stay.
4. Cancelling and lateness
- Cancel or move a pay-as-you-go or small-group session at least 24 hours before, or it's charged in full.
- If you're late, the session still finishes on time.
- If I cancel or I'm late, you don't lose out: I'll reschedule or credit the session.
5. Pauses
You can pause a plan for up to 4 weeks a year for holiday, illness or injury, with notice. You don't pay while paused. For online coaching, the minimum term moves back by the length of the pause.
6. Boxing, Muay Thai and self-defence
Sessions are pad work and controlled drills, never sparring. Contact training carries extra risk to hands, wrists and shoulders, so tell me about any problems there. I lend gloves for your first 3 sessions. After that, bring your own gloves and wraps.
7. Online coaching
- You get a training plan refreshed every 4 to 8 weeks, a weekly check-in with feedback, up to 2 form-check videos a week, WhatsApp replies within 24 hours Monday to Friday, and a monthly 20-minute video call.
- The first 5 online clients get a founding rate, locked for as long as they stay.
- There's a 3-month minimum. If you stop before it ends, the rest of the 3 months is still due. After that, give 1 month's notice to stop.
8. Your 14-day right to cancel
You can cancel within 14 days of signing up and get a refund. If you ask me to start within those 14 days, you pay only for the sessions or coaching you've already had. To cancel, just email or message me.
9. Photos and video
I only film or photograph you if you opted in on the sign-up form, and only in the ways you ticked. You can change your mind any time by messaging me, and I'll take down what I've posted where I can.
10. Your information
Your health answers are encrypted and kept only on my device. I keep your records for 3 years after your last session (for under 18s, until they turn 21), then delete them. See the privacy notice.
11. Ending things, and responsibility
- I can end our training if payments aren't made, or if behaviour is unsafe or abusive. If I end it for any other reason, I'll refund sessions you've paid for and not had.
- I'm insured with Insure4Sport and hold a current first aid certificate.
- Nothing in these terms limits my responsibility if you're injured because of my negligence.
